My name is Pierre
Hallberg and since I was a kid I´ve always been in love with this model.
It all started in 1984 when my sister and her boyfriend bought a 1983 240 Turbo,
in a rare mint condition. It had ran only a few swedish miles, the color was
silver and it got the silver ribbed plysch interior which made this car special.
It was fully equipted, except for air-condition. Unfortunately, it was often
stolen so they got tired of the car and sold it.
However, my affection for this kind of car had now started. But when I grow up in the late -80th´s it was very expensive to own a 240 Turbo, and this due to high ensurance costs. Now when I am in my early thirty I can afford to own a car, and the funny thing is that the car itself is very cheap to purchase, and spare parts (you´ll need them) is very easy to find to a low cost.
I am about to restore a 1983 244 Turbo, a black fully equipted car with leather
seats, air-condition, power steering and brakes, and all electrical windows and
roof-hatchet. This car is, as shown in the picture below, very damaged by rust,
but the milage is very low (15100 swedish miles) and the engine/gearbox is in
very good condition.
From 2002 the restoration began with a complete strip of
the coach, which proved to be damaged by rust in rear and the floor. When all
repair was done, I contacted my painter who took care of the car. Approx. two
weeks took the paintjob and I was very satisfied with the result.
